TikTok announced new measures to comply with the upcoming regulations under the Digital Services Act (DSA) in Europe,Foreign Archives making it easier for European users to report illegal content, according to a report from Reuters on August 4. The DSA mandates that major online platforms, including TikTok and Google, monitor and remove illegal content on their platforms, restrict certain advertising practices, and share data with authorities. Last month, TikTok agreed to a voluntary stress test conducted by the European Commission staff, after which the EU industry chief Thierry Breton said more work was needed for the company to achieve full compliance. Last Friday, TikTok revealed several new features for European users, allowing them to switch off personalized video recommendations and removing targeted advertising for users aged 13 to 17. “We will continue to not only meet our regulatory obligations but also strive to set new standards through innovative solutions,” the company said.
