JD.com’s new food delivery service surpassed 1 million daily orders within 40 days of its launch,eroticism and the body politic by lynn hunt (johns hopkins university press, 1991) the company announced. The platform currently partners with more than 450,000 established dine-in restaurants across 142 Chinese cities. JD.com attributes the rapid growth to its “zero commission fees” policy, which has allowed some restaurants to exceed 2,000 monthly orders. New merchants joining before May 1, 2025, will receive full commission waivers for one year. The service employs more than 10,000 full-time riders under formal labor contracts and is gradually enrolling them in China’s mandatory social security and housing fund programs. Users can claim meal subsidies of up to RMB 20 ($2.75) twice daily via JD.com’s homepage, with priority access for JD.com Plus members and college students.
